    THE TEMPEST auditions at Elgin Theatre Company are happening soon!

    The Tempest is Shakespeare’s final masterpiece, full of humor, magic and touching drama. ALL are encouraged to audition – this will be a very fun, open and creative project!

    AUDITIONS TIMES:

    SUNDAY JUNE 1 – 6-9 PM

    MONDAY JUNE 2 - 7-10 PM

    CALLBACKS - TUESDAY JUNE 3 - 7-10 PM

    NOTE - you MUST be able to attend callbacks.

    LOCATION: CONGREGATION KNESETH ISRAEL- 330 Division St. Elgin, IL 60120

    Parking lot on the South side of the building. Enter at Door 1.

    WHAT TO PREPARE:

    Actors may elect to do a monologue, but it is not necessary. Auditions will mainly consist of cold readings from the script. Callbacks are by invitation. ● Not that comfortable with Shakespeare? Not a problem! Jocelyn is an experienced and acclaimed Shakespearean actress, teacher and coach and is going to spend time helping everyone get comfortable with the language and style. ●

    NO APPOINTMENTS - just show up! We will also accept video submissions consisting of a Shakespearean monologue that must be sent no later than June 1st. If you send a video audition, you still must be available for callbacks.

    REHEARSALS will be based on cast conflicts. Rehearsals generally will be Sunday evenings and some days between Mon-Thurs.

    City of Lights Theatre & Cabaret in Aurora, Illinois is holding open auditions for actors 15+ (with the exception of the character Theo, 8+) for their production of Pippin!

    Please note this is an unpaid, non-equity production.

    Audition Information

    Please fill out the online audition form at this link and make sure to attach your headshot/resume, along with a video submission of: one comedic Shakespearean monologue of your choice (male or female, no longer than 90 seconds please) Also, if you sing/play an instrument we would love to see that, please include 16 bars of any song of your choosing (monologue and song may be on the same video) by Sunday, May 18th.

    In-person callbacks are by invitation only and will be held on Sunday June 8th at Baker Memorial Church in St. Charles from 4-8PM (invited actors will be emailed a time slot and sides to prepare.)

    Actors will be paid a $100 stipend.

    When/Where  

    First read-through is Monday, August 18, 2025. Rehearsals begin August 25 and run 4 days per week, located in downtown Elgin.

    Tech week is Sunday, Sept 28 through Thursday, October 2.

    Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2pm, running October 3-19th at Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division St., in downtown Elgin.

    Auditions for Mean Girls presented by Chicago Heights Drama Group

    MEAN GIRLS TEEN EDITION AUDITION INFO

    To audition for our production, you must be between the ages of 14 and 18.

    Auditions will be on May 15th between 5 and 9 pm; 20 auditioners per 60-minute time slot.

    Callbacks will be on May 17th at 5:00 pm

    VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: There is a time slot listed for Friday, May 16th. This is for video submissions only.

    Rehearsals will begin June 9th and will run Monday through Friday from 3 to 5. As we get closer to tech week, some days may run longer (no later than 6).

    Performances are July 18 at 7:30, July 19 at 2 and 7:30, and July 20 at 2.

    There is a $100 participation fee to be in this production. PLEASE do not let this discourage you from auditioning if that is not within your budget. We can discuss what your options are.

    Due to the content of this show, the characters of Regina, Gretchen, Karen, Cady, and Aaron will be highly preferred to be played by an actor who is at least 16.

    Bring in 32 bars (a minute to a minute and 15 seconds) of a song in the style of the show. Please do not sing from the show. There will not be an accompanist at auditions so please email a track for your song to actorthomasmcmahon@gmail.com either precut to your specific cut or with a time to start, with the subject line “Your name - Mean Girls”.

    There will be a dance audition that you will have to learn via the videos provided. Please come with the dance as performance-ready as possible as we will not be teaching the dance at auditions.

    If we need you for callbacks, a list will be sent out with the materials we need you to prepare. Not receiving a callback does not mean you are not cast.

    The Illinois Theatre Association (ITA) is thrilled to announce auditions for the prestigious 50th Illinois High School Theatre Festival All-State Production of Newsies to be presented at Illinois State University in January 2026. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity brings together the state’s most talented high school performers, technicians, and musicians for a professionally produced show that will be performed at the annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival.

    Auditions are open to current high school students across Illinois who are passionate about theatre and eager to collaborate with top peers from around the state. Students can audition for roles in the cast, apply for technical crew positions, or audition to be part of the pit orchestra.

    Dates: May 31 or June 7

    Locations: Normal, IL or Addison, IL

    Who Can Audition: Illinois high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in 2025-2026

    Interested students should prepare audition materials according to the guidelines provided on the ITA website. Technical crew applicants will be required to submit portfolios, and musicians will need to demonstrate their instrumental proficiency through recorded or live auditions.
